SEASON 1 – BAHIA
4 episodes of 26 minutes
Release: 2024

In the first season, Humberto and his team traverse Bahia in search of encounters and images that inspire a deeper connection with the land. Across four episodes, breathtaking landscapes and remarkable stories of people who preserve and embody the essence of Bahia’s countryside are explored.

The season premiered in December 2024 on TVE-Bahia affiliates, with an initial broadcast on TV Kirimurê in Salvador.

Episode #1: Cocoa
Meet a farmer from Jequié who shares his harmony with the land, an agronomist who takes us on a journey through the world of cocoa, and a rural producer who reflects on his roots and the joy of life in the woods.

Episode #2: Quilombo
Follow the close encounter with a bull and the unexpected sighting of a rare bird on the way to the Engenho da Ponte quilombo, where we document the sustainable extraction of palm oil, mangroves full of shellfish, and the vibrant culture of this traditional community in Bahia’s hinterlands.

Episode #3: Beehive
Experience the honey harvesting process in the Lagoa do Sal community, the dangers and challenges of filming in harsh conditions, and a visit to a farm that invests in bees and agroforestry as a way to restore local agricultural production.

Episode #4: Vaqueirama
Be inspired by Terezinha Varjão, a cowgirl from Curaçá. Witness thrilling scenes of traditional calf-roping and join a heartfelt reflection on what it means to be a son of the Caatinga.

SEASON 2 – CAATINGA
8 episodes of 26 minutes
Expected release: Q4 2026

Titled “A Portrait Through the Scrub”, the second season takes an intimate approach to exploring the cultures and traditions of Brazil’s Northeast. With a careful and respectful perspective, Humberto Bassanello guides viewers through a metalinguistic experience, intertwining the documentary narrative with reflections on his own craft. This fusion of content and process creates a cohesive, sensitive, and deeply engaging storytelling experience.

Currently in pre-production, filming is scheduled for late 2025 and will take place in the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, and Bahia.
